EXODUS 34:5-7

"The Lord descended in the cloud and stood with him there and proclaimed the Lord by name. The Lord passed by before him and proclaimed: “The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, and abounding in loyal love and faithfulness, keeping loyal love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin. But he by no means leaves the guilty unpunished, responding to the transgression of fathers by dealing with children and children’s children, to the third and fourth generation.”

Notice who is speaking here in verses six and seven. It is God. This is both unusual and significant: God is describing Himself!

From the NET Bible translator notes: Here is one of the clearest examples of what it means “to call on the name of the Lord,” as that clause has been translated traditionally (וַיִּקְרָא בְשֵׁם יְהוָה, vayyiqra’ vÿshem yÿhvah). It seems more likely that it means “to make proclamation of Yahweh by name.” Yahweh came down and made a proclamation – and the next verses give the content of what he said. This cannot be prayer or praise; it is a proclamation of the nature or attributes of God (which is what his “name” means throughout the Bible).

I'm so grateful summer is finally here! I have a new, wide-margin ESV Bible to replace my old NAS Bible from seminary. I have been waiting for summer to begin transferring my favorite hand-written notes to my new Bible.

Beaverton Hospitality

Tiddlywinks for the first time

My Beaverton class put together a lovley gift basket and presented it to me the last day of class. In the basket were all kinds of 'Grandma' things: Tiddlywinks, Jacks, Art supplies, games, books, candies, teas, a travel mug, etc! The girls are saying "Thank you" to the Beaverton class as they explore their treasure!

Door to Door

After witnessing to a couple of Mormons last week, I decided to post this resource. Most of us have a hard time knowing what to say. Those Mormons are so well trained!
C.A.R.M. (Christian Apologetics & Research Ministry) is a great resource for quick information about Atheism, Islam, JoHos, Mormons, etc

Our friends hired the Reptile Man to come and do a private presentation in her living room. What a wonderful experience! From our first 'jump scene' to the last exhibit (Buttercup the giant python) it was fascinating!

After lunch, we came back to Grammie's house for some much needed rest. Lily and Mikayla played 'Reptile Woman' all afternoon, pulling long, rolled scarves out of hats to teach Grammy about snakes, frogs, alligators, spiders, and cockroaches.

We finished our afternoon with a tea party.

First Weekly Homeschool Park Play Day

Krista's home school group meets weekly through the summer at a local park. This was our first play day! Mikayla dreamed of climbing her first tree. Lily is happy just to have Grandma by her side.
